It is not about food or drink or drugs or work, although we may engage in those things compulsively. Really lovely and reflective book.
The book also opened my eyes to why people willingly create drama in their lives. But it won’t ever happen – because the guy is a bad boy and he’ll stay that way. These feelings are not associated with love.

Roth writes with lyricism fopd awareness; it is difficult not to feel her suffering, and by the same token, her growth as she reckons with the pain of an abusive mother and unavailable father and its effects on her eating and relationships. I think it’s a good book for relatives and friends of those struggling with the disease.

One of my favorite points of the book was the breakdown of love as something that is outside you, something that needs to be attained and can be attained by pursuing thin-ness.
