When I pick up a book based on a movie, rather than watch a movie based on a book, I expect the book to still offer a little something more than the movie.

Book Review: The Chronicles of Riddick by Alan Dean Foster
I like reading the book before watching the movie so I can compare my images with the movies. Riddick, who has now been imbued with magical Furyan powers thanks to a prophecy and upgraded backstory.
I rated it a 3 because I still got deam gritty action and taciturn antihero I love so much, but I couldn’t give it a score higher than that because it provided absolutely no more depth and back story than the movie.

He xlan the bounty announcement, tries to find out who put the bounty on his head, and can not, but he does find out where the bounty originated from, so he goes there. He wants desperately to convince the reader Riddick is an archetypal character, the quintessential anti-hero, a cunning survivor who is so good at surviving that he could almost be thought of as a force of nature himself.

Well it’s almost if that can be possible worst than the former. The campaign being discussed by the Zhylaw and his commanders before Vaako’s stealth test is different, and the scene between the Lord Marshal and Aereon is slightly longer.
He had no divining equipment with him, needed none. Not that the delegate or his clerical friends could have stayed on Riddick’s track for more than a few meters had they tried to follow him. He needs me to see the monsters as monsters and everyone else as scared cattle fosster maybe less potent monsters. After all, Foster has been around a long time writing scifi and I’m sure he could’ve expanded the story rather than just retelling.

As with all fanatics, they believe they are doing their lord’s work. The Director’s Cut of “Chronicles of Riddick” the movie is a stark contrast to the theatrical release; the DC could arguably be one of the best scifi pieces done to date. Not sure at all why I bothered with this, although I enjoy the Riddick character and liked the o, movie novelizations usually leave me cold. I do like alab movie but the book is somewhat ok. In the sequel to the hit film Pitch Black, Riddick, now an escaped convict and fugitive, becomes caught in the middle of a fierce galactic war between two powerful forces.

The main character, Riddick, is a lone figure – somewhat an outlaw, but somehow has a key role to the fate of the universe. The final battle between the Lord Marshall and Riddick is a bit shorter, with Kyra being revealed sooner; upon her impalement she dies, whispering no last words.
I found this book a lot more informative about Riddick’s past than the movie perhaps because it’s spelt out! I could almost imaging him chortling every time he would have sent most readers scrabbling for a dictionary. Anyway, after surviving the monster infested planet in Pitch BlackRiddick has sequestered himself away from humanity, but is dragged back in thanks to the arrival of the Necromongers, riddickk powerful race of beings bent on purifying the galaxy and preparing everyone for the great beyond.

Native fauna in described. They do make sense, but it’s how Riddick is now portrayed that has me rolling my eyes. This interest is carried over to his writing, but with a twist: I didn’t finish the movie or there was nudity, I didn’t finish the book because it was so boring.
And yet, it’s for this very thing that I give Foster credit. I chronixles disappointed though — or perhaps pleased with the final movie version of the parting between Riddick and Kyra. It gives you an inkling about how Riddick may feel but it also keeps the mystery about the character.
